A relaxing evening on the Colorado River is ruined as a group of rafters sees what seemed to be a body.
It happened around 7 p.m. Monday along the river near the Connected Lakes area.
The group alerted the Mesa County Sheriff's Office after seeing what was described as an elbow sticking out of the water.
The Grand Junction Fire Department also responded to the location and boat crews quickly took to the water to search the immediate area and downstream as well.
Although nothing was found, these sightings are not taken lightly.
The search was called off about 45 minutes after it began and particularly with Grand Junction resident Paige Birgfeld still missing, if you think you see something along the river, authorities encourage you to report it immediately.
