Around ten o'clock Saturday Grand Junction woman Virginia Northup was driving a Lexus SUV failed to stop at a stop sign on H Road and drove her vehicle into a canal, and then drifted downstream.
After being carried downstream, Northup was able to get out of the car, and climb her way out of the canal. She was transported to St. Mary's for minor injuries. Northup was also cited for careless driving and DUI.
Sunday the car was brought out by a diver from the United Underwater Contractors and the towing company, Girardi's Towing and Heavy Haul.
It took about two hours to get the vehicle out.
