A stretch of Monument Road will be closed Monday and Tuesday to increase safety for bikers. The closure will be between Mariposa Drive and South Camp Road on Monument Road. Four foot bike lanes are being added to each side of monument road, and the two day closure will be to install a drainage system. The road will only be closed between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M.. One suggested detour route is Highway 340 to South Redlands Road to South Camp Road. Total cost of the road expansion will be just under 1.8 million dollars. Once the drainage system is put in shoulder widening and repaving will take place.
Also, you may notice less traffic downtown with the re–opening of the intersection at 7th Street and White Avenue. The sections reopening are between Grand and White on 7th street. Also local traffic will be able to cross 7th Street at White Avenue. The rest of the 7th street project will be under construction until late November. All in all the project cost 4.2 million dollars.
