Healthy Eats

In the past 25 years childhood obesity rates have tripled according to the Mayo Clinic, but one local high school is giving students incentive to stay away from this growing trend.

The typical high school cafeteria serves up pizza and french fries on a regular basis, but Central High School is looking to battle this growing epidemic with the Warrior Wagon. The wagon will sell sandwiches, salads, and wraps on a daily basis. If that’s not good enough, they are raffling off an IPOD everyweek to help entice the teens to eat healthier.

If that’s not enough incentive, the meal is only $3.50 and comes with a drink, chips, and fruit. Right now the concept is only at Central High School but the district hopes to expand it to all District 51 high schools.
