Governor Bill Ritter is in Grand Junction today to present the 2007 Governor's Arts Award to Mayor Jim Doody. The city of Grand Junction is being presented with the award for using the arts to enhance the quality of life and economic vitality in the community.
The award presentation is scheduled for Noon today at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts.
The Governor will recognize art showcases in places such as City Hall and the Convention Center, as well as the city’s participation in cultural grants and a variety of art events like the Art and Jazz Festival, the Summer Art Camp and First Friday Art Hop.
Grand Junction is the first recipient of this recently reinstated award.
