Tense moments at Holy Family Catholic School after a child reports seeing a classmate with a gun.

At around 9:30 Grand Junction Police responded to the school after a gun was reported on campus. A child told a teacher they had seen another student with a gun.

After contacting the student with the alleged gun police determined it was just a toy. A sergeant on scene told 11 News there was no threat to students at anytime.

Police confiscated the small silver toy gun with an orange tip. Officers say the school was quick to respond and did a good job of reporting the situation. Holy Family will send home notes with kids tonight and call parents to explain what happened. Holy Family says the child who brought the toy weapon to school will be reprimanded. Police say the child will not be charged with a crime.
