The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of a Palisade woman an accident.

Johanna Clinkenbeard died as a result of her injuries when she fell from a moving vehicle in downtown Palisade Sunday night.

The ongoing investigation has led police to believe the accident was not the result of a domestic violence incident as first thought. Police say the 43-year-old woman was emotionally distressed after going to a small party that night and asked her unidentified fiancé driving the pick up truck to stop. When he didn't stop Clikenbeard stepped from the vehicle and was run over.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence. No other charges have been filed.
