The World Health Organization has called on China to apply the same food safety system for exports and its domestic supply.
The W.H.O. made the comments as China's International Food Safety Expo kicked off today in Beijing. The Food Safety Director said having separate food safety systems is not economically feasible. The Director of China's Department of Quality said China does follow international food safety guidelines. But other countries have adopted higher standards, and China must meet those standards in order to export to those countries.
