DE BEQUE, Colo. (KKCO) - The driver of a broken-down semi truck is behind bars after Troopers say he caused the fatal rollover accident on I-70 Tuesday afternoon that took the life of a Grand Junction man.

Thirty-four-year-old Tinauris Charmaine Wise of Illinois was arrested for causing the fatal wreck just east of De Beque Tuesday.

He’s facing several charges, including criminally negligent homicide and is being held without bond.

Colorado State Patrol says Jose Aragon of Grand Junction was killed when the Ford Focus he was riding in was hit by a Subaru Outback after the Focus had to move over to avoid emergency triangles Wise placed on the Interstate to alert drivers to his broken down rig. The triangles should have been placed on the shoulder behind his truck.

The Focus spun, then rolled. Aragon, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected onto the eastbound lanes of I–70. He was airlifted to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The other people involved in the accident are not listed as patients in the hospital.

The Interstate was partially blocked for several hours following the accident.
