GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The man killed in a Colorado State Trooper-involved shooting last week will be laid to rest Tuesday.
A memorial service for Jason Kemp will take place Tuesday afternoon at Canyon View Vineyard Church. It starts at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a potluck reception.
Kemp's family says the service is meant to be a celebration of his life and is inviting the public to attend both functions.
Kemp died July 20 after being shot in the chest by a Colorado State Trooper. Officials say the Trooper had responded to a crash Kemp was involved in along South Broadway in the Redlands and it was while the Trooper confronted him at a home just around the corner on Glade Park Road that he fired at him.
The investigation into what took place during that confrontation is still ongoing.
