GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Members of the Horizon Sunrise Rotary Club got a sweet treat Thursday night as they got together for their annual A La Mode Event.
Twelve chefs from the Grand Valley created their best dessert and attendees voted on which was their favorite.
All proceeds from the event go to the fundraising efforts of the club, which organizers say are always for the kids.
"We've got spellbinders which go out to the school district and they tell stories in the classroom, we have dictionaries that we hand out to all third graders and we're part of all of the other rotary clubs that do that," says President Kevin Braa.
Chefs from 626 on Rood, A Taste of Heaven Catering, The Cake Cottage, Gelato Junction, and others competed for bragging rights of best of the best.
But in the end, Family Health West came out on top with a cake shot.
Organizers estimate more than 300 people attended the event.
