SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. (AP) -- Black skiers and snowboarders from across the country are gathering at Snowmass resort for a fundraiser held by the National Brotherhood of Skiers.

The meeting, known as the "Black Ski Summit," began Saturday and will continue until March 2. It coincides with the NBS's 40th anniversary.

The primary goal of the fundraiser is to support the organization's Olympic Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support for black athletes who excel in winter sports.

Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the summit will feature social events and leadership meetings.

The National Brotherhood of Skiers says it is supported by 60 clubs nationwide representing more than 3,000 members.
