Bomb Squad investigates explosives found in neighborhood

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Grand Junction Bomb Squad is investigating explosive devices found in a neighborhood at Orchard Avenue.

This afternoon around 2:42 p.m. Mesa County Deputies responded to a report of a bomb and bomb making materials at the E Building of Racquet Club apartments located at 2915 Orchard Avenue.

The items were described as bottles and canisters filled with gunpowder, sealed with duct tape with an attached fuse. The items were contained in a backpack on the south side of the building.

The Grand Junction Bomb Squad responded to the scene, secured the items and took them for disposal.

During the incident the E building of the complex was evacuated for over two hours.

Authorities know who the suspect is and the suspect remains at large.

The incident is still under investigation.
