CMU art students showcase talent

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) -- CMU's art department hosted its annual open house Thursday.

CMU art opening reception

  • University Center art gallery
  • Friday, Oct. 19
  • 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Open to the public

Activities included demonstrations in ceramics and drawing. A mini-animation film festival was also shown throughout the day, along with a road-roller printmaking event.

Several pieces of artwork are for sale to the public and will be on display in the University Center art gallery through Nov. 2. Officials say it's a great way to celebrate art and local talent.

"What I love the most about art is actually making art, because I'm an artist myself. And besides teaching-- which I love-- I love to make art, and I think that's what all of the artists here at the art department love," said Suzie Garner, Colorado Mesa University art department head.

An opening reception for the artwork will be held Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
