CMU offers new autism class

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A new class offered at Colorado Mesa University is open to anyone who wants to learn more about individuals with autism.

Individuals on the autism spectrum are more common than one might think; one out of 88 individuals is diagnosed with autism.

The all day class taught students many lessons about autism like the background and different strategies they can use in and outside of a classroom.

"What our goal is, is to let them understand the history of it, let them understand the causes that are current today," said Denise Hoctor, with Colorado Mesa University.

If this class interests you, CMU is offering one more on February 23rd.

It costs $25 or $70, depending on if you wish to get college credit for the class; to register or for more information, call 248-1786.
