Raw sewage spilled on Riverside Parkway, road closed

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Well, that stinks!

Drivers who use Riverside Parkway will want to avoid the area of West Ave. to 25 Road Tuesday morning as crews work to clean up a crash and damage caused by an overnight semi-truck accident.

Eastbound lanes of the parkway have been reopened, however westbound lanes remain closed.

Grand Junction Police say around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning a semi-truck pulling a trailer on Riverside Parkway drove over and damaged the temporary sewer line that's part of the road construction just west of West Ave.

The damage to the pipe sent a lot of raw sewage onto the roadway and while crews have closed the leaking pipe, the road will be closed until later Tuesday morning. No time has yet been given.
