CSU extension offers agriculture workshop

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Colorado State University Extension is offering a Uncompaghre Valley Agriculture Workshop on Tuesday, Mar. 5. It will present three segments that can help farmers avoid costly disasters.

The morning session will start with a look at how the impact of the Rocky Ford melon Listera outbreak has effected local communities. Next, will be a segment the federal food safety legislation and the newly implemented Cottage Food Industry law. The final segment will have participants focus on disease, insects and soils unique to Western Colorado farmers. This information will most likely apply to veteran fruit and crop growers.

The workshop will take place at the Bill Heddles Recreation Center in Delta from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. To get in, the cost is $20.
