Fundraiser money stolen during robbery at local liquor store

A store clerk tells KKCO 11 News at around 2 PM a man wearing a gray sweatshirt walked into Enterprise Liquors on North Avenue and stole well over $500 from a fundraiser jar sitting on the counter.

The clerk says the man ran out of the store after grabbing the money and into a white van being driven by a second male.

The clerk followed the man and managed to get the license plate number of the van.

Mesa County Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene after the incident and are investigating.

We do not know at this time if they have located the suspect.

The clerk says the funds were being raised for a local high school student planning a trip to China.
