GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction City Council met for a workshop to discuss an economic development and capital plan.

The goal is to improve the economic climate by working with partners like Mesa County, GJEP, the airport and Colorado Mesa University.

Deputy City Manager, Tim Moore, said one idea is to hire someone to promote and market the city in a way that people will want to start businesses here or create a second business here.

A draw to this area is it's generally free of natural disasters and bad weather.

Officials said they will continue to discuss plans and hopefully have more ideas within the next month.
