Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - Grand Junction City Council unanimously approved the budget for 2013.

Here's a look at the breakdown. Thirty percent will go to transportation, and about 21 percent will fund the installation of water and sewer systems.

The budget also allocates money to the Avalon Theatre, CMU, Lincoln Park, and the Riverfront Commission. Council members feel this year’s budget priorities re-enforce its partnership with the community.

"What’s important about the budget and its adoption is the spending plan for next year so that each of the seven departments in the City whether its the police department, or fire department, or the public works department know what their spending plan is and know that they have the legal authorization from Council to go forth and spend as planned, " says Jodi Romero, Financial Operations Director.

The total budget is $145.8 million dollars, an $8 million dollar decrease from the 2012 budget.
