DENVER (AP) The state of Colorado says it will provide grants to help small-town cinemas stay in business.

Grant foundations, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and The Denver Film Society have teamed up to create grants ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 for theaters to convert to the new digital equipment required by the film industry.

According to the Denver Post, film groups say small town cinemas are a key entertainment source for residents and provide a source of culture.
