With Halloween right around the corner some local residents are decking out their lawns to celebrate the fall holiday.
It seems there is always that one house in the neighborhood that you can't help but admire. One local resident shared her reasons for embracing the day.

"Its just about bringing families together, children together and having a night of fun in a safe environment for children," said resident Lindsay Keller.

Keller says that many people think of the day as a negative day but she tries to put a different spin on things.

" If you look back at ancient cultures, they would bring in the livestock to replenish theirs supply for the next year, can vegetables and basically be a celebration of life," said Keller.

Keller and her husband spend several days setting up their front yard and over the years have made a major investment in their creepy crawlies.

Local Partyland owner Roger McClelland says this is the best time of year for sales.

"The dollars are coming up we are seeing an increase over last year... that's encouraging, last year it was flat to the year before," said McClelland.

The average person is expected to spend $80 dollars on Halloween this year, which is seven dollars more than last year.

In 2011 Americans spent $6 billion dollars on Halloween, and this year the total amount has crept up by $2 billion dollars.

Whether you are willing to dole out the cash or not, this candy filled evening is certainly one that most youngsters look forward to all year.
