DELTA, Colo. (KKCO) Officers responding to a domestic violence incident in Delta were met by a man wielding hammers.

Upon arriving at the scene the victim was brought out safely and examined by paramedics from the Delta County Ambulance district. As officers approached the front of the residence they made contact with the male party, Larry Denham.

Denham confronted the police on his front porch, saying that he would not surrender peacefully and officers would have to kill him.

After determining that negotiations were not going to resolve the incident the Delta Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics team entered the home and took Denham into custody.

Denham is being held at the Delta county jail on multiple charges including domestic violence and barricading himself in his home.
