DENVER (AP) -- Denver International Airport is trying to determine whether it should add more oil and gas wells.

Airport spokeswoman Jenny Schiavone says there were 76 oil and gas wells on the property before DIA opened in 1995.

According to KMGH-TV, those wells brought in $7 million for the airport in 2010.

The airport has hired a consultant to examine what options airport officials have and what the next steps would be in tapping those resources.
