EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) On August 4, 2013 deputies responded to Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel on a report of a dog head and leg that appeared to have been severed from the body. Upon examination by veterinarians, the injuries appear to have been caused by a human and not an animal.

Tips that lead to the arrest and indictment of any suspect involved could result in a reward of up to $5,000.

National and local animal welfare organizations, including ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and Eagle Valley Humane Society are offering a reward of $2,500 and $1,500 respectively. Crime Stoppers is also offering a $1,000 reward in this case.

The dog appears to have been approximately two to three years old and a breed of miniature pinscher or miniature pinscher mix. The photograph included here is a dog of similar size and color for the dog that was found in Crown Mountain Park.

Individuals that might know someone who has recently lost their family pet, have information about the suspects or this crime are urged to contact the Eagle County Sheriff's Office at (970)-328-8500.
