GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- A fatal motorcycle accident on I-70 leaves one man dead.
Around 7:00 p.m. a man traveling on I-70 when an elk crossed his path and knocked him into a guard rail. A 49-year-old man was riding a motorcycle without a helmet and officials say he died at the scene of the accident.
The accident occurred on I-70 near mile marker 64 just two miles east of the town of De Beque. The coroner will perform an autopsy tomorrow to identify the person and cause of death.
The name of the victim will not be released until authorities notify the next of kin.
