GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Keeping yourself healthy this holiday season will be the best gift for your body.

Five cases of influenza that have landed people in the hospital this season have been recorded, up from three last year.

The highly contagious flu virus can be spread easily so try to give less hugs to family if you are feeling under the weather.

Symptoms of the flu include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, fatigue, body aches and headaches.

Getting a flu shot is the best way to protect yourself from influenza, but if you have not yet gotten your flu shot there other ways to stay healthy include: frequent hand washing, staying home if you're sick, getting exercise and eating a healthy diet.
