GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Medical officials are predicting this year will be reminiscent to last year in regards to the early flu season.

Getting flu shots sooner than later will protect you from coming down with the illness and elderly people should be on high alert because they are more prone to sickness.

Nurse Cindy Dearden at the VA Hospital said last year they saw an increase in older people being hospitalized for the flu.

The elderly are prone to secondary infections, so getting the flu can turn into something more serious and cause complications.

The VA Hospital is offering a drive through flu clinic on Saturday, September 28 between 10AM and 1PM. Military personnel can pull up to the front of the hospital, get their shot and be on their way.
