GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control found one in every twenty children suffer from food allergies, a number 50%higher than in the late 1990's
There are several conflicting theories about how and why the trend is on the rise, but officials say if you suspect an allergy, visit your doctor.
"There are food intolerances that don't trigger this immune response," says dietitian, Pat Stiles. "Some people have more trouble digesting milk or when they have soy and certain products."
Experts say three of the most common allergy-inducing foods are milk, peanuts and eggs.
