GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) Unemployment, homelessness, PTSD, and substance abuse continue to remain a problem among our American heroes. The least we can do is make sure they have food on the table. The Vet Center of Grand Junction kicked off their 3rd annual food drive Saturday morning with a motorcycle run. Dozens of Veterans and military supporters came out to show their support. Organizers say they raised over 50 boxes of non-perishable food items last year. This year they're hoping to raise over 100. Organizers say a small donation can do a long way.

"As a Marine myself, I served; it's time for us to give back; and a lot of those young men and women coming back gave a lot, and are having hard times, and we need to help them out," said George Delahanty, a readjustment counselor at the Vet center in Grand Junction.

Citadel Security, FCI Contractors, and Home Depot are also sponsoring the food drive, which runs through December 3rd.
Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at the Vet Center. That's at 2472 F Road, Unit 16, in Grand Junction.

The Vet Center provides free re-adjustment counseling and outreach to all Vets and their families.
