Now a perfectly legitimate excuse for gamers to play 24 hours straight.
KKCO 11 News master control director Mike Lawrie will be participating along with 700 other Reddit forum subscribers in a 24-hour game-a-thon. From 8 a.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday, Lawrie will play video games, all to raise money for Children's Hospital Colorado.
Even though he'll be sleep deprived, Lawrie couldn't pass up an opportunity to help a meaningful cause.
"I like charities, I like doing things for people, for the less fortunate. Since I'm in good health, I might as well help people who aren't in good health. I checked [out the fundraiser], and sure enough the Children's Hospital of Colorado was on there. I clicked on that, signed up for Extra Life, [and] set my goal of $500," Lawrie said.
So far Lawrie's team Reddit has raised $57,000, but Lawrie is hoping to raise more.
Donations will be accepted until 8 a.m. Sunday. You can donate to Lawrie's page by clicking here: Mike Lawrie donations
