Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- People from across Mesa County got the chance to get muddy for a good cause today.

Grand junction hosted its first march of dimes Mudd Volleyball tournament today, modeled after a 30-year old tradition in Denver.

Teams from all around the community came out and officials say they're ecstatic about the turn out for their first ever tournament on the Western Slope.

"It's been weeks, and months and years of planning to make this happen," says Western Slope March of Dimes Division Director, Terri Jones. "But to actually make what you see today it's actually probably taken us two weeks to make this all happen."

Officials say they've raised almost 15 thousand dollars at this event alone and have already begun planning the tournament for next year.
