WHITEWATER, Colo. (KKCO) --- A scary situation today on Highway 50 after reports of a vehicle without a driver in it was called in to authorities.

Around 9:24 a.m. Colorado State Patrol was called out to Mile Post 49 on Highway 50 just past Whitewater. The caller said a car rolled on the roadway for a while before it crashed into a barbed wire fence.

Troopers found the vehicle was empty and unoccupied. After further investigation, it was discovered the 2004 Saturn Ion had rolled off an auto transport hauler.

Delta Police pulled over the auto transport driver, from the company 'Good Ol Boys Transport' based in Whitewater and the driver did not realize one of his seven vehicles in his fleet was missing.

Troopers cited the driver for spilling his load. The Saturn Ion had some damage to its front end, after rolling into the fence.
