One of Grand Junction's own will be participating in President Obama's second inauguration this week.

Former Grand Junction High School student Grant Kampa will be marching with the United States Air Force Honor Guard during the inauguration parade.

Kampa has been in Washington, D.C. practicing for the big day.

KKCO 11 News had a chance to Skype with Kampa about the event, and he says he'll enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity.

"I'm so honored and it's a privilege to be here. Words can't express how it's going to be on that day. They've been telling us since practice you only get one shot at this," Kampa said. "I'm going to take it all in, enjoy every minute of it and do my best."

Kampa says it's a privilege to be in the nation's capital.

He hopes to get back to Grand Junction in next few months.
