GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Several local non-profits have benefited this year from over $155,000 worth of donations from the Grand Junction Lions Club.

On Tuesday, the group donated $31,000 to groups like Hilltop Community Resources, The Mesa County Health Department, The Western Slope Center for Children and The Grand Mesa Little League.

"It's about being part of an organization that works hard at different times during the year to really make it so that we can improve our community," says club president, Chris Allen. "It's that wow factor, it's what each of us live for."

Funds are raised through the club's annual carnival and parade by the community betterment committee.

Officials with the Lions say they're always looking for new members who are looking for a way to positively impact their community.
