GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO/9 Health Fair) 9Health Fair and IntelliTec College have cancelled plans to host a 9Health Fair in Grand Junction in the spring of 2014 because the Grand Valley Health Fair announced its plans to host a fair in the same time frame.
9Health Fair and IntelliTec teamed up in 2013 to host the 9Health Fair when Grand Valley Health Fair ended its 33-year partnership with 9Health Fair and indicated they would alter the timing to host a health fair in the fall of 2013. IntelliTec College stepped in to fill the void left in the community when there would have been no health fair during the traditional March timeframe. With the recent announcement that Grand Valley Health Fair plans to return to hosting a fair in the spring, IntelliTec College and 9Health Fair agree it is in the best interest of the community to provide only one springtime health fair.
“We want to thank the members of the 9Health Fair for the great work we were able to accomplish together earlier this year,” Dr. David A. Scott, Campus Director for IntelliTec College’s Grand Junction campus stated. “Our biggest concern is that the Grand Valley community is served. With the Spring dates established for the Grand Valley Health Fair, it just does not make good sense to run two events of this size this year.”
“We appreciate the partnership with IntelliTec College last year to continue the springtime 9Health Fair serving over 2000 participants in the Grand Valley community,” James H. Goddard, President and CEO of 9Health Fair said. “IntelliTec College and 9Health Fair have decided not to host a health fair in 2014 in light of the announcement of the Grand Valley Health Fair planned during the same time frame. We support the efforts of the community to encourage health awareness and we stand ready to lend our expertise and resources if requested.”
