Heather Jensen leaves Florida jail

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Heather Jensen has left the custody of Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida, presumably on her way back to Mesa County to face charges for her sons’ deaths.

Jensen spent 14 days in a Florida jail after she was arrested in Fort Myers on Jan. 16 for the deaths of four-year-old Tyler Jensen and two-year-old William Jensen. On Jan. 30 at 4:30 a.m. MST, the Lee County inmate system listed her as released.

Jensen will be escorted to the Mesa County Jail on charges of child abuse resulting in death, criminally negligent homicide and false reporting to authorities, but she has not been booked into the local system yet.

William and Tyler suffered hyperthermia on Nov. 27, 2012 near Powderhorn Mountain, when Jensen left them in her over-heated Toyota 4-Runner so she could have an affair in a truck nearby, according to a Mesa County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.

The boys were left with the heat on high for about 65 minutes. William died on site, and Tyler died six days later at Children’s Hospital in Denver.
