100 high heels, Christmas decorations stolen from Latimer House

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Fewer men may be racing down Main Street in high heels if a thief doesn't return shoes stolen from Hilltop's Latimer House.

In a bizarre break-in on April 16, Hilltop officials reported that 100 pairs of high heels and Christmas gifts and decorations were taken from a storage area. The storage was in a transitional housing development used for domestic violence victims.

The high heels are used for the Latimer House's annual Men in Heels Race, a major fundraiser for the nonprofit. Many of the shoes are unique designs in men's sizes.

Hilltop's Latimer House is an emergency shelter for women and children affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.
