GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) This year Hispanic Heritage month is being celebrated from September 15th - October 15th. The celebration kicked off at the Mesa County Central Library.

Music and food were just some of the fun taking place to kick things off Monday afternoon. A proclamation from Senator Mark Udall, was read and the first annual Hispanic award was given away at the ceremony.

"It’s a great opportunity to recognize Hispanics in the community to see the good that they've done and recognize it and celebrate it," says Danny Sandoval.
