GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) More than 120 years after the Handy Chapel first opened its doors, church members are celebrating new renovations.
People prayed, sang and rejoiced at a dedication ceremony held in the church Sunday afternoon .
"This is a dedication to Christ to let him know that we appreciate his spirit that enlightened everyone’s heart that they supported a new chapel," said Josephine Dickey, Handy Chapel's chair person.
The chapel had been undergoing renovations since the beginning of the year. Some of the new additions include larger bathrooms, new flooring and stained glass windows.
"It makes us feel like we're at home here," said congregation member Karen Hackley. "The church is old and needed to be redone."
Handy Chapel was built in 1892.
