GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. For many residents repairing wear and tear to their homes is the last thing on their to do list because of financial issues.
The Housing Rehabilitation program helps families acquire loans to make home modifications.
The program was recently awarded $90,000 from the Colorado Division of Housing and with that money 12 Mesa County homes can be fixed up.
Health and safety are the main focuses of the repairs like electrical, plumbing and roofing updates. Officials say making handicap modifications is also important for elderly clients.
The goal of the program is to improve the home to the point where residents can live there for 10 to 12 more years.
