Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- Back in 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July 21st as National Ice cream Day and several Grand Junction residents were out to celebrate.
Gelato Junction is a staple on Mainstreet in Downtown Grand Junction.
In celebration of Sunday's delicious holiday, they offered customers a special buy-one, get-one half off deal on their chilly treats.
"We make all of our gelato and our ice cream homemade in shop we try to use as many local ingredients as we can so it boost the economy in the local area," said Gelato Junction employee, Cord Marez.
The owners of Gelato Junction, Jim and Paula Hawkins, had their original ice cream shop in Idaho Springs but moved the business and opened their doors in Grand Junction in 2008.
Keep an eye out for their giant, free-standing, ice cream cone on a hot summer day and stop in for a cool, refreshing treat.
