BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- The foothills will be alive with the sound of music, as Julie Andrews speaks to the University of Colorado, Boulder's more than 6,000 graduates.

The actress who starred in stage and film musicals including "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins" will deliver the commencement address Friday at CU Boulder's Folsom Field.

The 77-year-old actress, who won an Academy Award for her role as Mary Poppins, is also a children's book author and an advocate for the arts and education.

The ceremony starts at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public, though attendees can expect tighter security than in past years.
