GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The need for donations is high for one local organization.

The United Way of Mesa County is a non-profit organization that raises money from the community to fund local programs that address community concerns.

For the past four years, United Way of Mesa County raised over one million dollars.

This year, they aren't doing quite as well.

"It's been a very challenging year to fundraise. We're actually trending about $65,000 less than what we raised last year, if everything else comes in flat," said Amanda Crysler, with United Way of Mesa County.

All local donations will stay here in Mesa County and help only local programs.

You can help United Way reach its goal by simply writing a check or attending one of their fundraising events.

The next fundraising event is the 11th Annual Home Loan Taste of the Grand Valley on Monday, February 11th at the Two Rivers Convention Center from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
