GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Organizing a coat drive seems like a task for an adult..

However, one local nine-year-old saw the need and decided to make a change.

Landon Grossnickle started collecting winter clothes last winter and got different organizations and residents to donate over 500 coats.

"I saw kids on the street with no coats," said Grossnickle. "I wanted to give my coat to them".

He expanded the coat drive this year and people can drop off warm gear at any District 51 school, Firstlight Home Care, Bookcliff Hearing Rehab Center, and Peak Performance Chiropractic.

His mom says instead of places having their own coat drives, she hopes for everyone to come together and have a county-wide drive.
