GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Mesa County Elections is taking extra steps to guarantee your vote will count this upcoming election season.

"It's a completely secure and I think transparent system that I think should make people feel better about the election and the accuracy of our vote here in Mesa County," said Sheila Reiner, Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.

The office conducted a logic and accuracy test on elections equipment using fake ballots.

District 51 school board and Mesa Water Sanitation representatives participated in the public testing process.

Even though this is an off-year election, Mesa County Elections still encourages people to have their voice be heard.

"It does affect our lives," Reiner said. "Even the small ones. The municipal elections, the school board elections, those are things that are actually even closer to home."

Registered Mesa County voters will receive mail-in ballots starting October 14.

Election day is Tuesday, November 5.
