GUNNISON, Colo. (AP) -- Rescuers have recovered the body of a Summit County man who died in an avalanche in Gunnison County.

The Gunnison County sheriff's office says 37-year-old James Lindenblatt was with two other men when the slide happened Sunday afternoon near the town of Marble, west of Aspen. The two men said they dug Lindenblatt out from under the snow but he had already died. They told sheriff's officials it appeared he had died of injuries from the violence of the avalanche.

A helicopter recovered his remains Monday. Lindenblatt's hometown wasn't immediately available.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says Lindenblatt is the second avalanche death in Colorado this season.
