GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The man accused of pistol whipping and robbing a Barnes Electric employee last summer has been sentenced.

Friday, a Mesa County judge gave 23-year-old Jeremyah Woolbright 12 years in the Department of Corrections for robbery and a concurrent 12-year sentence for second degree assault.

He must also pay court fines and costs.

Woolbright followed a woman who worked at Barnes Electric from Wal-Mart where she cashed her check, and then tried to rob her.

He and 23-year-old Brianna Kuiper then took off. Both were later arrested at Motel 6 after a long standoff.
