GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Experts say it's an excellent time of year to plant trees and flowers here in Western Colorado, so if you're looking for some top-notch plants, Saturday’s tree auction is a perfect place to find them.

For the 15th year in a row, the Tri River Area Master Gardeners are having a tree auction and plant sale. The event helps raise money for the Master Gardener Program.

Ash trees, crab apples, evergreens and Colorado blue spruces will all be up for auction, along with perennials for purchase.

The Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer any of your plant-related questions, something the group is used to doing year round.

"(They) Do a great deal of service for the community, provide lots of information, people bring it lots of plants with problems, we can tell them what the problems are, we can do soil and water testing, it's just a wonderful, wonderful community service," Horticulture education specialist Susan Rose said.

The sale runs Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., with the auction set to kick off at 10 a.m.

The event is at the Mesa County Fairgrounds.
