GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The big event is only a few days away, but there's plenty more than just Mesa County Fair set up going on at the fairgrounds.
This morning young riders brought their horses to the fairgrounds for a Ranch Horse Competition where they showed off their western skills.
Each rider had some time to complete different ranch tasks including cow work.
"They love those animals and they really look forward to this the whole year so it is important," Jo Carole-Haxel from the Mesa County Fairgrounds said.
Today was one of many pre-fair events. Because of the high number of events at the fair, Mesa County Fairgrounds volunteers and workers keep the before and after schedule packed with other 4H and FFA events.
The fair will host more than 100 individual events this year so make sure you don't miss out. It starts tuesday.
